50 Years Ago… the 50th Anniversary of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965

Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A.) Boston is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 (Hart- Cellar Act) by President Lyndon B. Johnson with the Boston premier screening of “1968: Through Chinatown Eyes” a short documentary film showing the impact of the 1968 riots on Washington DC’s Chinatown by filmmaker Penny Lee and Book Talk of “The Making of Asian America: A History” by award winning author Erika Lee.
This celebration is co-sponsored by the Chinese Historical Society of New England (CHSNE) and the Boston Asian American Film Festival (BAAFF) and Hosted by Tufts University

Author ERIKA LEE | Book signing & Talk for the just release “The Making of Asian America”–published to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the passage of the United States’ Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 that has remade our “nation of immigrants,” this is a new and definitive history of Asian Americans. Lee is a Tufts University alum and is currently the Chair in Immigration History at the U of Minnesota and Director of the Immigration History Research Center.
Filmmaker PENNY LEE’s documentary “Through Chinatown’s Eyes”, looking at the impact of the 1968 riots on DC’s Chinatown.
