ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Research conducted by Harvard University, the Carnegie Foundation, and Stanford Research Center found that 85% of job success comes from having well-developed soft and people skills, and only 15% comes from technical skills and knowledge.
To enhance our youths’ ability to compete and lead in the future, we are offering an 8-week program with the vision to provide Asian students to get a broader view and understanding of various career paths to help in their choices of colleges, majors, and careers.
Participants will learn to develop valuable leadership skills applicable in college and the workplace to project confidence and a foundation to begin shaping a successful, upwardly mobile career. Additionally, they will learn personal skills that will help increase advancement opportunities and stand out from the competition in pursuit of college admissions or in the workplace.
PROGRAM GOAL AND OUTCOMES
Participants will learn to interact better with others, display responsible behavior, decision making, build capacity to stay open and receptive to changes. One will also learn how to positively interact with people from different backgrounds, how to be an effective communicator and a team player. Building communication skills that are crucial to lead, advance, and succeed.
There is focus on a number of critical skills including time management, prioritization, organization, the decision-making process, the problem-solving process, and open-mindedness. Participants will also learn business and social etiquette and how to interact with people in a professional and cooperative manner.
To pull the skills together, particpants will collaborate on projects utilizing skills that they have learned. To help create more in-depth understanding, projects will be developed according to subjects brought to focus by the speakers.
Grades: 9th – 12th graders (school year 2018-2019)

Date: 8 weeks, every Saturday, June 23 – Aug 11, 2018, 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Cost: Free
Award: Attend at least 6 or more classes will receive $50 from East Boston Savings Bank and joining our 3rd Award Gala at Hei La Moon on 8/26/2018

參與者將學習發展適用於大學和職場的寶貴領導技能,以樹立信心和奠定基礎,開始塑造一個成功的,向上移動的職業生涯。此外,參與者將學習個人技能,這將有助於提高晉昇機會,並在尋求大學招生或職場競爭中脫穎而出。透過團隊合作能力、溝通能力, 及領導力, 學習面對不同文化時, 從學習歷經衝突到相互溝通尋求共識, 以至如何尊重彼此的差異, 找到自己在團隊中的位置與價值, 讓初高中學生,認識不一樣的自己。
現在是多元化社會,當多數學生的學術基礎都差不多,如何在眾多的競爭者當中脫穎而出,是否具備組織分析力、意向、聚集資源的能力和熱忱,甚至進一步運用專業的核心優勢,對我們的社會發生正向影響力,將是超越同儕勝出的關鍵因素。

在這個項目中,參與者將學習與他人更好地互動,展現負責任的行為,做出決策,建立保持開放和接受變化的能力。還將學習如何與不同背景的人進行積極互動,如何成為有效的溝通者和團隊合作夥伴。建立對領導,進步和成功至關重要的溝通技巧。
重點關註一些關鍵技能,包括時間管理,優先次序,組織,決策過程,解決問題的過程以及開放思想。參與者還將學習商業和社交禮儀,以及如何以專業和合作的方式與人交流。 為了將技巧融合在一起,成員將利用他們已學過的技能,在項目上進行合作,透過多元的角色職掌,寬闊成員們的視野,而每一次的項目上進行合作,會議都有正式的議程與進度,絕不輕率看待每次的準備工夫。為了幫助成員更深入理解各項目, 主題將根據演講者關注的主題為基礎。

Eligibility
To be eligible for the C.A.C.A. Boston Youth Leadership Development Program, applicants must:
- Must be a US permanent resident or citizen and is attending a public school
- Be a 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grader in school year 2018-2019 and enrolled full-time
- Be committed to attendance requirements of the 8-weeks program
- Demonstrate interest in and enthusiasm for learning about leadership, career advancements, and willingness to volunteer in the community
